Ms. Mingzi Sun

Ms. Mingzi Sun was born in 1990 at Henan, China. She studied chemistry at Sun-Yat Sen University (B.S. 2012) and received her master's degree in material science from the University of Rochester (M.S. 2014). She started working as an R&D engineer in a carbon nanotube production company for two years. In 2021, she obtained her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Bolong Huang at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Now, she is working as a Post-doc Fellow in Hong Kong Polytechnic University and her research interest is in the investigation of novel energy conversions of nanomaterials through DFT calculation methods.

Ms. Qiuyang Lu

Ms. Qiuyang LU, born in 1991 in Jiangsu, China, studied biomedical engineering at Tianjin University (B.S. 2014) and received her master’s degree in the same subject from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (M.S. 2017) on quantitative ultrasound with Dr. Lei Sun. At present, she is a PhD Student under the supervision of Dr. Bolong Huang at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and her current research interest is on the images analysis about photochemical properties of materials and electrification dynamics by Matlab simulations.

Ms. LU Lu

Ms. LU Lu was majored in chemistry at Shanxi Normal University and awarded her bachelor’ degree (Double Degree in English) in 2011. After three years, she graduated from Southwest University and received her master’s degree in physical chemistry. Then, she started working as a primary school teacher teaching science for four years. At present, she is a PhD Student under the supervision of Dr. Bolong Huang at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and her research orientation is DFT calculations on rare earth functional nanomaterials.

Mr. Tong Wu

Mr. Tong Wu received his bachelor's degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2018. After a year of experience as a research assistant in Dr. Huang's group, he began his Ph.D. study in 2019. His current research interest is theoretical calculations on electrochemistry catalysts. He has published several articles as the first author in journals such as Angewandte Chemie, Nano Energy, Small, etc., and participated in a lot of works in Dr. Huang's group. Besides research, he has developed many skills and hobbies in his spare time, including programming, photography, filming, graphic design, and DIY.

Mr. Baian Chen

Mr. Baian CHEN was born in Sichuan province, China. He studied optoelectronic information science and engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and finished his bachelor’s degree in 2020. He joined Dr. Huang’s group as a joint Ph.D. student after graduation through the PolyU-SUSTech collaborative program and his current research interest is on the investigation of self-trapped excitons in halide perovskites through DFT calculations.

Mr. Justin Hon-Ho Wong

Mr. Justin Hon-Ho Wong finished his bachelor's degree in Chemical Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2020. His final year project worked under the supervision of Dr. Bolong Huang and mainly focused on the stress-strain modulation of noble metal electrocatalysts. After completing his undergraduate studies, Justin served as a part-time research assistant in Dr. Huang’s group for the advanced electrocatalysts research. In 2021, He joined Dr. Huang’s research group as an MPhil student and starts his postgraduate study. Currently, Justin is working on the design of advanced atomic catalysts for energy conversion with DFT calculation.

Mr. Cheuk Hei Chan

Cheuk Hei Chan obtained his bachelor’s degree, Analytical Science for Testing and Certification, from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2021 in chemical technology. He became an MPhil student under the supervision of Dr. Bolong Huang in 2021. His research focus has been the electronic structures of novel 2D materials. His hobby is making the Gundam and the scene model.
